Privacy Policy

Effective July 25, 2026

BuildMyMap helps mobile businesses publish a live map of where they will be. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we never do with it. The short version: we collect only what the service needs to work, we use no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell your information to anyone.

Information you give us

When a business creates a BuildMyMap account, we store the username and a scrambled (hashed) version of the password, plus whatever the business adds to its map: business name, logo, brand colors, service region, event locations and times, and optionally a link to a calendar feed. We never see or store the password itself.

If you email us at info@buildmymap.com, we keep the email so we can reply and help you.

Calendar data

If a business connects a calendar feed, we read it only to display upcoming public stops on that business's map. We do not share the feed address with anyone, and our public map data deliberately excludes it. Event addresses are converted to map coordinates using a professional geocoding service.

If you just visit a map

Visitors browsing a published map do not need an account and are not asked for any personal information. Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. Map pages load their map imagery from established third-party mapping services, so those services receive the standard web requests your browser makes to fetch images. None of them receive your name or any account information from us.

Cookies

BuildMyMap sets exactly one cookie, and only when a business signs in: a session cookie named bmm_session that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days. It is essential for the service to work and contains no tracking. We use no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no third-party trackers of any kind. Your choice on our cookie notice is remembered in your own browser's storage, not on our servers.

Services we rely on

BuildMyMap runs on established, professionally secured cloud infrastructure: a hosting platform that serves the website, a secured database that stores account and map data, a geocoding service that turns event addresses into map coordinates, and mapping services that provide map imagery. Each processes data only to provide its service to us, under its own privacy and security commitments. A current list of our service providers is available on request at info@buildmymap.com. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with anyone, ever.

Maps embedded on other websites

Businesses can embed their BuildMyMap map on their own website. The embedded map behaves the same as visiting the map directly: no account needed, no cookies set, no tracking.

Keeping your data safe

All traffic to BuildMyMap is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Access to the database is restricted to the application itself and never exposed to browsers.

Your choices

Account holders can edit their map information at any time from their dashboard. To delete your account and all of its data, or to ask us anything about this policy, email info@buildmymap.com and we will take care of it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
